Digital photography has come a long way. Gone are the days when a photographer was limited to 24 shots on a roll of film, only to discover that only one shot turned out. Digital photography allows a photographer to snap virtually unlimited shots in a session, and provides assurance that the right shot was achieved.
There are many quality camera systems on the market today. Canon and Nikon lead the way in terms of professional DSLR technology at an affordable price. Some photographers swear by Nikon, others by Canon - we use only Canon products. Canon, in our opinion, surpasses Nikon in terms of reliability and durability.
That said, don't be quick to judge a photographer based on the equipment they carry. A good photographer can capture magic with the simplest of equipment; likewise, an expensive rig will not make a professional out of an amateur.
One of the keys to a successful photoshoot is communication. Let your photographer know exactly what you wish to achieve. We work with our clients to establish the 'feel' of the shoot - considering target audience, budget, emotion, style, etc, and provide creative consultation to acheive the final product.
Weddings
Our philosophy on wedding photography is that each moment of a couple's wedding is special and should be preserved in its most natural state.
Studio photography, in our opinion, is fine for portraits and school pictures, but not for weddings. Our fly-on-the-wall approach to wedding photography employs a photojournalistic view of this special day. This ensures that couples don't wind up with an identical set of images as their friends, and that each shot embodies a moment in time.
Our goal as wedding photographers is to capture your wedding memories - not create them. Generic poses don't show the true personalities of the wedding party or the guests present. It's your wedding and you should feel free to be yourself and be unaware that photographers are even present.
That's not to say that we don't encourage post-ceremony formals - we do! Depending on the package you purchase, we accompany the wedding party and family to their specified location, be it indoors or out, and work with the bride and groom to capture the formal shots to their taste. We also work with clients to establish a list of venues to use for formals contingent on weather and other unforseen circumstances.
Portraiture
Portraiture is defined as the art or instance of capturing a pictoral representation. A portrait may be as simple as a headshot for a model or actor. It may be a sentimental memory of one's new-born child. First-time parents often employ glamour photography to capture family portraits that provide a more visual approach than a point-and-shoot image. Newly weds may wish to have intimate moments together captured in print.
A good portrait will capture more than just the subject; it will show the surrounding environment and provide a visual narrative on the context of the image.
Architectual & Industrial
Architecture and design firms require precise representations of their spaces. We minimize the use of auxiliary lighting to capture as honest an image as possible. Specialty photography is used commonly by real estate agencies and tour operators to capture 360° panoramic images. This technique involves specialty lenses and software to capture a series of frames which are then stitched together and rendered into a virtual cylinder to give a seamless view of the captured environment.
Events
Special Events, Sporting Events, Concerts, School Plays, Charity Events - you name it, we'll shoot it. From a professional point of view, we enjoy taking pictures; from a sentimental point of view, we take pride in capturing special moments that provide tangible memories of people and events.
Urban Photographics
Urban photography captures the essence and heartbeat of urban life - from architecture to politics, decay to construction.
There are few rules to urban photography. Each subject has its own story, and the photograph merely captures an image of that story.
